In our age, the reality of large scale tragedies and catastrophes reaches us through the same media-channels as our entertainment. Miet Warlop, the Flemish multimedia artist reflects on this phenomenon in her production, presented last year with great success throughout Europe. Besides being the writer and the director, she is also the main actor. Her repertoire of techniques comes from various backgrounds: silent films, pop culture and all forms of theatre. Together they make for a sensitive, ironic, entertaining yet cathartic theatre performance. It is as if a catastrophe had turned everything upside down in Warlop`s world: objects are different from what we are used to. They are neither where, nor how we thought they would be. In Warlop's world the chaos brought about by destruction is not necessarily a curse. It is always possible to begin again and, instead of waiting for the revolution, we can take the initiative and make things move ourselves – this is the message of Warlop`s piece.
